There is 15% GST, and the final GST value is determined by adding the converted purchase price, applicable Duty, freight cost to NZ, and insurance cost, known as the CIF value.
Am I eligible for importing a vehicle without paying Duties or Taxes? If you're returning to New Zealand after 21 months overseas, you're eligible for a full or partial Duty and Tax exemption on private motor vehicles. Full documentary evidence is required to demonstrate compliance. Otherwise, private motorhomes will attract 15% GST.
